Emmy Kosgei to jet off for Olympics performance

Gospel singer Emmy Kosgei has been invited to perform at a VIP reception dinner that will host the Kenyan athletes and other dignitaries in London on July 24. Emmy told Word Is, “The reception dinner for the Kenyan team is an event organised by the Kenyan Embassy in the UK, friends of Kenya made up of people from the diaspora. They came together and formed the group founded on their love for Kenya they also include former ambassadors.”
She continued: “I am told it is a VIP event which will be attended by the top crème. I am so excited and looking forward to participating. It is nice to be celebrating our Kenyan team and giving them that homely feeling away from home and make them feel that we are watching and celebrating them as they represent the country.”
Emmy has recorded a song for the occasion. “I have song that I wrote about sports, celebrating sports and what it entails, how it brings people together. In sports there is no language. It is a bigger way of demonstrating unity and a bigger platform for preaching peace. It also encourages our athletes that they are the pride of Africa and we are proud of them. It is basically telling them to go and win the gold.” Emmy leaves for the UK on Monday.
