ATHLETICS Kenya (AK) has called on athletes to start early preparations for the 2013 World Cross Country Championship to be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

AK Senior vice chairman Jack Tuwei said the cross country season has started and athletes need to  get ready for it. “We are calling upon all the athletes to take advantage of the local meetings and put themselves in the right frame for the global cross country meeting next year,”  he noted.

Tuwei said it is good to start early in order for them to build their shape and endurance. He said AK has already released the calendar of events with the KCB/AK cross country series set to start on November 3 in Nyahururu.

Machakos will stage the second leg while Kisii and Kapsokwony will be the venues for the third and fourth legs of the series. Embu,  Eldoret and Kericho will hold the subsequent events.
