A top Kenyan producer Robert Kamanzi aka R-Kay has been sub-contracted to work with last year’s Tusker Project Fame winner, Uganda's Davis Ntare.
The deal was struck with South Africa's Gallo Records who have traditionally recorded the reality show's winning artiste. “Gallo Records contacted me to work with Davis on their behalf as
they felt the winner needed a producer who understood East African artistes. This
comes as a honour and I’m looking forward to work with him,” R-Kay
told Word Is in an exclusive interview.
R-Kay had already developed a working relationship with most of
the contestants while in the Project Fame house and even recorded and produced the competitor's group effort, Naweza.
“I will not only work with Davis but also other contestants.
Davis, Paleki, Amileena and Prudence have already recorded some of their songs. All of them are talented and express the real definition of music,” said
the producer who also doubles up as a talent manager at Ingoma Talent Management
R-Kay also defended the singer Kidum from recent allegations that he has been
turning down performances at the last minute. “Most people can't take no for an
answer so when Kidum tells them that he cant make it for their show they still
go ahead to advertise. Kidum is one of the best at the moment and so he is in demand. They just have to understand that he can’t be every where at the same time,” R-Kay
