Seema’s Team Is The Koroga Premiere League Champion

Last
Friday the Mystique Gardens was home to the grand finale of the first ever,
month long cooking challenge; The Koroga
Premiere League
. An initiave of East FM and Pearl Rice, Seema Sarkar’s
team; The Quickgun Murugans walked
away with the highest accolades and a cash prize of Sh100,000! Parveen’s Tandoorkar Blasters team came second.

During
the finals, the judges challenge was to prepare Biryani using a specific theme
and way. Kunjan was the only male presenter in the finals and his team was the
only vegetarian team in the entire KPL. Natasha’s Masala Maniacs caused a stir with their innovative Tuk tuk for which
they used to transport their dishes for presentation.

East
FM’s Operations director, Jasmine Postwalla thanked all the sponsors for their
support saying, “We can come up with various exciting ideas, but nothing would
be possible without the support of the sponsors.” The title sponsor of the KPL,
Capwell Industries’ Rajan Shah said, “Initially, we were skeptical about the
positioning of our brand, Pearl Rice, with a Koroga challenge but Jasmine and
the East FM team have truly done a brilliant job. Yes, we will be here next
year for another KPL challenge.” 

KISUMU’S
ISMAILI YOUTH INTER - COMMUNITY GAMES

The
Ismaili Youth and Sports committee in Kisumu recently hosted an intercommunity
games gala for the various Asian communities at the Aga Khan Sports club. Over 200
participants from the Ismailis, Lohanas, Shahs Kutchis, Sikhs, Bhadalas and
Patels indulged in various sports competitions that included volleyball, throw
ball, badminton, tennis and soccer.

“The
Closing Ceremony was held on the evening of Saturday October 22, which marked
the end of the games. A gala banquet with delicious food and entertainment was
held at the Aga Khan Club. Prizes for all the winners and runner ups were
awarded then,” said Imran Kanji, the chairman of the Ismaili Youth and Sports
Committee in Kisumu.

BOWLING
FOR JIGGERS FUNDRAISER

The
Rotary Club of Muthaiga joined hands with Ahadi Kenya Trust to raise funds for
jigger eradication in Kenya by hosting an exciting bowling competition at the
Village Market recently. The fun-filled event as well as a fellowship for all
the Corporate Sponsors like Rotary Club of Langata, Weetabix East Africa,
Alibhai Shariff & Sons, Citi Bank, Prime Bank, Renaissance Capital,
Alexander Forbes and Knight Frank. Each of these sponsors took up a bowling
lane and arrived in ‘Corporate bling’ attire showing off their team colours and
camaraderie.

The
Knight Frank team outdid themselves with their bowling champ Charles who won
with the highest score of 162 points. Their member, Alex Law together with Miss
Kenya queens of 2010 and 2011 were each auctioned to the highest bidder for a
one night dinner. The ladies went crazy when they saw Alex and it turned into a
bidding war - all hands were flying in the air to outdo the other! He was
finally auctioned for a whopping Ksh26,500 to Mrs. Paula Lanco of Prime Bank!

Dr.
Kamau of Ahadi Kenya, Former Miss Kenya Cecilia Mwangi, the Rotary Club of
