SIAYA County Council failed to meet its budgetary objections in the financial year 2011/2012 due to an acute revenue short fall of Sh28.4 million. According to theĀ finance committee chairman Asteri Angolo, the council had estimated to receive Sh122.3 million from the central government and Sh57.9 million from local revenue amounting to Sh180.3 million.

The council however collected Sh29.4 million hence the deficit. Angolo attributed the deficit to failure by the council to sign a new MoU with Dominion Group Farms as had been anticipated where the farm was to surrender Sh10 million. He was speaking yesterday at the County Hall during the budget presentation of the financial year 2012/2013 where they expect to spend Sh205.2 million.
