Wiper, Ford-Kenya and PDP reap big after ODM primaries in Nyanza.

Disgruntled ODM aspirants in Nyanza have defected to the Cord affiliated parties to contest in the March 4, elections.


Parties that have benefited from the displeasure of some aspirants in Nyanza are Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper and Trade minister Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford- Kenya.


Omingo Magara's The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is also a chief beneficiary of the displeasure by some ODM aspirants in Nyanza.

Homabay County Senator aspirant Hilary Alila is among those who have moved to PDP to face Immigration minister Otieno Kajwang’ who has been cleared by ODM party to run for the seat.

 Alila faulted the nomination of Kajwang’ citing that he was pronounced winner when the nomination process was still ongoing.

The ODM elections board chairman Franklin Bett has confirmed that the party’s primaries were not conducted in three counties of Kisumu, Homabay and Migori.

Eugene Nyamunga said they have petitioned the IEBC to reject party nominees in the polls conducted after the deadline.

Nyamunga said: “It is important for parties to continue with their internal arbitration since those nominated after the deadline are unacceptable by the IEBC.”

Another candidate who has already secured a PDP certificate is Bob Ndolo Otieno who will be running against ODM candidate Aduma Owuor for the Nyakach Parliamentary seat.

Abdulqadir Omar, popularly known as Abdul Dubai has also defected to Ford-Kenya to face ODM’s Ken Obura whom he claims won unfairly in the just concluded ODM nominations in Kisumu Central constituency.

The Star has also established that PDP has cleared Stephen, Don Bosco Gichana to run for the Kitutu Chache North and Kitutu Chache South parliamentary seats respectively.

Edward Mauti will be running for the party’s ticket in Bomachoge constituency while Eric Amuka in Rongo constituency.
