A Malindi man is alleged to have murdered his five-year-old boy in a new year eve ritual meant to give him great wealth. The father allegedly slashed his son's neck and removed his body parts as per instructions given to him by a 'pastor' then dumped the body in a shallow grave 400 metres from his home.
Relatives who saw the body wrapped in a white piece of cloth raised an alarm and members of the public beat up the man before frog-marching him to the the Administration Police divisional headquarters who took him to Malindi police station.
Speaking to the press at the station, DCIO John Nd'ungu said the suspect had been arrested and was being held at the police station.
Speaking to journalists at the Malindi Police Station, Nd’ungu said the suspect was found with body parts wrapped in a plastic shopping bag.
"After we raided his house, we found the heart, liver and private parts which the suspect confirmed belonged to his son before admitting he had also drunk his son's blood," Nd'ungu said.
He said the man will be charged with murder but will also undergo a mental check up. The badly mutilated remains of the boy were taken to Star Hospital Morturary.
