The United Democratic Alliance party is set to kick off phase one of the grassroots elections this Friday from 9 am.

Party officials in a press conference on Thursday said all was set for the exercise even as they billed it as one of a kind in Africa.

"Our election is going to be electronic. The first in the country, the first in Africa. There is no party in Africa which has done electronic voting. It is going to be seamless, free and fair," Eng Anthony Mwaura, Chairperson National Election Board, said.

The grassroots polls will be held in five counties; Nairobi, Busia, Narok, West Pokot and Homa Bay.

In Nairobi, the party has 853,000 registered members, Homa Bay (141,000), Narok (233,000), Busia (141,000) and West Pokot has 208,000.

Kindiki to appear before the Senate 

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki will today appear before the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defense and Foreign Relations.

The meeting will be held at Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort, Mombasa.

Machogu in Kabete for TVET celebrations

The Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu will today visit Kabete National Polytechnic to officiate the celebrations of TVETs at 100 years from 8 am.

This year marks exactly 100 years since the Native Industrial Training Depot currently Kabete National Polytechnic was established in 1924.

NTSA to hold a public participation

National Transport and Safety Authority will hold a public participation forum on the draft (Operation of Commercial Services Vehicle) Regulations, 2024 and the draft traffic (Schools Transport) rules 2014.
