The IEBC selection panel has

revoked the names of five candidates shortlisted for the chairman position citing unsuitability.

Selection panel chairperson Bernadette Musundi said the five were removed following concerns raised through a memorandum by some Kenyans.

Musundi further said they have note received reports of the candidates from EACC and the Kenya Revenue Authority.

"EACC response was not sufficient to enable panel make informed decision on suitability of candidates," she said.

Speaking at Parliament buildings on Friday, she

asked them

not to reapply when the position is readvertised on Saturday.

The five are Margaret Shava (Kiambu), lawyer John Kangu (Kakamega), Roseline Odede (Kisumu), David Mereka (Murang'a) and David Malakwen (Nandi).

They were selected from a list of

who bid for the post.

Those nominated for approval will then be vetted by a Parliamentary Committee.

The interviews will be conducted in public at the Mini Chamber located on the first floor of the County Hall building.

Shava sought to become chair of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission last year but the position went to Philip Kinisu, who resigned in August over conflict of interest allegations.

In 2015, she was on the tribunal probing the conduct of former EACC chairperson Mumo Matemu and vice chairperson Irene Keino.

Odede was vice chair of the now-defunct Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board. She holds a master of Law degree from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
