William Ruto has said the Jubilee Party will ensure it clinches the Nairobi Governor seat as the county

is the

hub of the national government.

The Deputy President urged Nairobi leaders to be ready to make sure a Jubilee aspirant wins the seat in the 2017 general election.

“It is not possible for the national government to be headed by Jubilee while the leading county is headed by a governor from a different coalition," Ruto said.

“This time round we will ensure Nairobi county has a Jubilee Governor. We will hold talks with Nairobi leaders to strategise on how this will be achieved."

He spoke on Sunday during a service at Presbyterian Church of East Africa in Dandora, Nairobi.

In January, the DP asked members of the Kalenjin community to “” and register as voters in Nairobi.

He said Nairobi is critical as it generates 50 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product.

“Some communities have Members of Parliament while we have none. What are we doing?” he asked them.

The race for Nairobi Governor is crowded for Jubilee.

Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, who is

TNA chairman, is expected to throw his hat in the ring.

Among those who have declared interest in ousting Governor Evans Kidero are Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko,

Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru and former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru.
