HIGHER Education assistant minister Asman Kamama wants his Baringo North counterpart William Cheptumo investigated for making claims likely to trigger clashes between members of the Pokot and Tugen communities. Kamama said Cheptumo who is also an Justice assistant minister made allegations that bordered on incitement when he said parts of Pokot East district belong to Baringo North.
He said the MP made the claims during a session with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission in Kabarnet. “The MP also made such claims during a visit by Prime Minister Raila Odinga recently and even urged the PM to follow up the matter,” Kamama said. Kamama said he has written to the office of the PM over the matter and said the dispute over the boundary has been there for the last 50 years.
