WITCH-CRAFT and early marriages have been blamed for the poor performance of pupils from the last two schools country-wide in the KCPE in Kwale county. Residents and leaders now believe that the fear that one would be bewitched once they shine in a national examination like KCPE could have prevented pupils from Makamini and Muhaka primary schools in Kinango and Msambweni districts from doing their best. At a mean of 134 out of the total 500 marks Makamini in Lands assistant minister Gonzi Rai’s semi-arid Kinango constituency shared the last position countrywide with Muhaka in Omar Zonga’s fertile sugar belt Msambweni constituency.
