Kenya Navy personnel recovered two firearms and are still seawrching for more which disappeared in the deep sea when the boat capsized. The first naval officer, 26-year-old Kelvin Ngogoyo, was recovered from the ocean on Sunday and taken to Pandya Hospital mortuary.
Maragua said operations were still on along the Somali border since the militiamen were spotted two days ago. Three Naval war ships are on the ground monitoring the border with orders to search or attack any vessel spotted in the open sea at night. Sources have indicated that French marines have already arrived in Lamu with negotiators and ransom for the abductors in efforts to rescue Marie Dedieu.
A source working with the French national TV station said the negotiators will meet the militia men to negotiate. "The French marine have arrived together with a team of negotiators that have the ransom to pay the abductors so as to free the abducted woman,'' said the source. Dedieu has been residing in Lamu for the past 15 years was said to be ailing.
