A business lady has been arraigned in court for defrauding another trader more than Sh11 million.

Security was tight at Kikuyu Law Court when the suspect was escorted by DCI officers on Wednesday afternoon.

However,  she denied the charges.

The court heard that on March 1, 2024, with others not before the court, the suspect obtained Sh11 million from James Muturi Kimani by false pretence that she was selling him a piece of land.

Her lawyer asked the prosecution to assist them with copies of the charge sheet and other documents on the case.

The defence counsel also asked the court to release his client with a reasonable bond.

Kikuyu magistrate Stella Kanyili ordered the suspect to be released on a Sh1 million bond or a cash bail of Sh300,000.

The magistrate also ordered the case to be mentioned on May 6, when the hearing date will be set.
