The 2021 World Relays 4×200 silver medalist Mike Mokamba has pledged a masterclass act in the Bahamas where he will be flying Kenya’s flag in the men’s 4×100.

In an exclusive interview on Thursday, Mokamba vowed to inspire his teammates to a masterstroke performance during the two-day global showpiece scheduled to begin May 4-5.

The Kenya Defence Forces officer said the coaches had settled on a well-refined roster of brilliant sprinters who possess the mojo to steer the nation to unprecedented heights.

The men’s 4x100m team includes Ferdinand Omanyala, Meshack Babu, Mike Mokamba, Hesborn Ochieng’, Mark Otieno and Samuel Chege.

The championships will provide the Kenyan contingent with a perfect platform to punch a ticket to the Paris Olympics.

“We have a strong team and I believe we can deliver. We aim to at least wrap up among the top 14 teams because doing so will hand us an automatic berth at the Paris Olympic Games,” Mokamba remarked.

Mokamba said they would hammer away indefatigable and rip the track apart in a frantic bid to seal seats on the plane to the French capital.

“Our main target in the Bahamas will be to qualify for Paris. We are determined to seal a spot in the Olympics. There will, however, be a lot of tough teams to beat,” said Mwaniki.

Mokamba said they had sufficient time to hone their skills together, adding that they were now reading from the same script.

“We have close to a week more to polish our act and we have improved a great deal from the day we stepped up training. The coaches are doing a fine job on us,” he added.

According to the World Athletics, teams will battle for Olympic qualifying slots on both days of action.

On Day One, the top two teams in each heat will progress through to the finals on Day Two, while also sealing qualification berths.

The final day will feature the athletes competing for lane positions in Paris.

In the finals on Day Two, teams will compete for prize money and obtain Olympic lane seeding positions.

Start lists will be published on May 3, while team line-ups will be confirmed nearer to the time of each race.
