Detectives attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have questioned a Chief Officer in Vihiga County in connection with Sh400,000 found in her office.

The chief officer is said to have spent the night at the Kisumu port police station last evening.

EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed the incident saying a total of Sh400,000 was seized.

Ngumbi said the Chief officer was unable to explain why she had such cash in the office by the time they visited her office.

Ngumbi says EACC has taken custody of the money alongside several documents as part of the investigations.

He said the Chief officer is one of the top officials in the Vihiga County Government that the anti-graft body is investigating.

Ngumbi said some are expected in Vihiga where they are probing allegations of corruption.

The CO has been in office for less than a year since she was sworn into office.
