A photo doing rounds on social media platforms of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua peeping through the window and looking at President William Ruto and King Charles III is photoshopped.
The photo was going round on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, during the first official day of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s visit to Kenya.
In the photo, President Ruto is directing King Charles to greet Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi with First Lady Rachel Ruto standing next to Ruto and Queen Camilla standing next to King Charles.
The Fact Checker performed a Google reverse image search to determine the authenticity of the image.
The original image has been shared online, as seen here, and here. The picture was taken on October 31, 2023.
In the original image, Gachagua is not peeping through the window. It is only President Ruto directing King Charles to greet Mudavadi.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla jetted into the country on Monday, October 30, 2023, for an official state visit but their official activities started from October 31 to November 3, 2023.
There will be a beehive of activities for the two leaders for the four days they will be in the country.
According to the statement released, the King and Queen will visit Nairobi County, Mombasa County, and surrounding areas.
"Their Majesties’ programme will reflect how Kenya and the United Kingdom are working together, notably to boost mutual prosperity, tackle climate change, promote youth opportunity and employment, advance sustainable development and create a more stable and secure region," the statement read.
