This is not the first time that we have claims of Members of Parliament being bribed, particularly when they are investigating a matter of national importance like this one.
One can count many cases of similar happenings in the past.
It seems as if Parliament itself has been mortgaged to some of these interests, especially people who want to use their offices to make money.
They use Parliament to escape accountability.
In this case [of Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi], we have no recourse because it was upon Parliament to shed light on this matter so that the journey of accountability can officially start.
Now, what has happened is that whereas we know that the issue of fake fertiliser is real, and it is going to affect many farmers, the truth of the matter is that it has become impossible for the public to exert accountability.
If there is one body that is supposed to help the public exert accountability on public officers, it has been compromised once again.
The issue now is what is it that should happen [if Parliament is compromised]? It is just to say dissolve this Parliament.
If you look at the whole issue, Kenya is an agricultural nation.
A big size of our population lives in rural areas, meaning many people are subsistence farmers. There are commercial farmers as well.
Now, if you take agriculture as a sector, this thing that has happened amounts to economic sabotage.
But now heads cannot roll, despite the people in the Ministry of Agriculture being well known.
If heads cannot roll, then the body, which is supposed to make heads roll but has been compromised, should be dissolved.
It is the one now that must be dissolved immediately so that we now elect new leaders who can act on our behalf because the current leaders have proved that they cannot act on our behalf.
To me, it is the whole Parliament that should go because we can no longer rely on them. If you go to a different committee, they have been bought too.
