Interior CS Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday received an additional 10 modern high-capacity Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) in Mombasa.
According to Kindiki, the new addition boosts the country's capabilities in frontline operations, as the country fights the existence of terror groups, bandits and other organised criminal organisations.
He said the acquisition is part of the government’s 5-year Police Equipment Modernisation (PEM) programme, which will come for Sh37 billion.
Last year, Kindiki received the first 10 APCs. The 20 APCs form part of the first Sh7 billion that has been spent through the programme.
The APCs, he said, will aid frontline officers in bad terrains to move in and out as they look for the armed criminal gangs.
The Interior CS noted that more equipment will be arriving soon as part of the orders the administration has already placed.
