As schools reopen for the second term, learners at Dagorreti South have a reason to smile after Lenana Primary School opened its gates.
To mark the historical institution, President William Ruto on Monday attended the inaugural assembly, where he led the 'bell ringing' ceremony.
During the event, he promised to sponsor the construction of new classrooms, a project which will be delivered in the next two months.
"I have offered to to build those new classrooms, it is not the Ministry, I will construct those 24 classrooms. This contractor is commencing the works today, so that in the next two months I will return to commission it," he stated.
The President also pledged to buy school uniforms for all learners.
"For every child who comes here for the first time, I will buy them uniforms and shoes. These children have come here with uniforms from other schools, and the other ones have come with home clothes. But even before the uniforms arrive, these children should continue learning," he said.
Ruto was accompanied by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Dagorreti South MP John Kiarie, CSs Ezekiel Machogu (Education) and Kithure Kindiki (Interior).
