Wimbledon doubles junior tennis champion Angela Okutoyi will be aiming for consistency at the Women's Futures tournament in Monastir, Tunisia next week.

The teen sensation has had mixed performances in the circuit this year but believes she can end the year with a win.

"It's been a tough year. I have my ups and downs and I want to be competitive at the tournament and improve my ranking,” noted Okutoyi.

Okutoyi said she is well rested and ready for the tournament, having last played at the US Junior Open last month.

"I'm well rested. I last played in New York and my focus now is on Tunisia," she said adding that she is hopeful of a good run in Monastir.

“I have been knocked out in the opening rounds twice so I hope I will be third time lucky and progress to the latter rounds of the tournament,” she added.

The country's youngest Kenya Junior Open champion said she can cope with the pressure of being one of the top-seeded players at the tournament.

“It's something I am learning and have to be prepared for. I am relishing the challenge,” she said.

The event in Monastir will be played on a hard-court surface and Okutoyi feels she is well adapted for it.

“I played in warm tournaments in Canada and at the US Open, which will be beneficial,” added Okutoyi.

After the two-week tournament in Monastir, Okutoyi will return home to play at a Futures tournament being organised by Tennis Kenya as well as the Karen Open.

"This is the final stretch. I hope to improve my performances and do the country proud,” she concluded.
