Former Kenya Sevens skipper Humphrey Kayange has been named in the World Rugby Sevens awards panel.

The panel will decide on the best performing players from both men and women's series that ends in June at the Paris Sevens as well as other tournaments on the World Sevens Series.

Joining Kayange in the panel is former New Zealand sevens skipper Karl Tenana, Canadian Jenn Kish, Australian Tana Penatani, Marika Vunibaka from Fiji and Danielle Waterman from England Rugby Union.

Kayange and the panel have a 70 per cent vote rights.  The remaining 30 per cent will come from international men's and women's players. The World Rugby Awards are the ultimate accolade for excellence in rugby on and off the field from the community to the elite level. Last year's nominees for the World Rugby men’s Sevens Player of the Year 2018 in association with HSBC were: Perry Baker (USA), Ben O’Donnell (Australia) and Jerry Tuwai (Fiji) with Baker winning the title

Kayange retired from rugby last year after a distinguished career that saw him lead Shujaa to the 2009 and 2013 Rugby World Sevens Cups as well being part of the team that won the Singapore Sevens in 2016 and Rio Olympics

Elsewhere, Nakuru edged Impala 5-0 to win the fourth leg of the women's festival over the weekend. The Rift Valley-based side had seen off the challenge of 12 -10 as Impala pipped Homeboyz 7-0. The Deejays finished third after a 19-5 win over Mwamba Ladies in the third and fourth playoff position

The fifth leg is slated Nakuru Athletic Club on March 31 with the final tournament slated for  April 19 during the ten aside tournament.
