Fresh from bagging a solitary point in Vancouver over the weekend, Shujaa have been placed in the pool of death in Hong Kong next month when they face Olympic champions Fiji, World champions New Zealand and Australia

Paul Murunga 's charges had a weekend to forget in Canada losing all five matches and with the real threat of relegation hanging over them they must step up to avoid losing Kenya's core status in the next four tournaments.

Shujaa lies joint 14th with a paltry 18 points alongside Wales with Japan placed 15th on 14 points.

Kenya will open their campaign against Fiji a team they have lost three times to this season 43-12 in Cape Town 38-7 in Dubai and over the weekend lost 36-12

Kenya will then face the resurgent Kiwis in their second match before completing their preliminary matches against Australia. Kenya reached the final last years in the Hong Kong losing 24-12 to Fiji.

Shujaa lost all five matches on the weekend losing 36-12 to Fiji , 35-7 to Samoa and 36-21 to Canada to drop to the Challenge trophy where they were hammered 47-7 to Australia and to drop to the 13th and 14th place playoff where they lost to Japan 22-14 to complete a miserable weekend for the young side.

It was the third of six legs in the 2018/19 HSBC World Sevens Series that Kenya 7s failed to register a single win - after the opening Dubai 7s and Sydney 7s during the fourth leg - to pick just a point.

Kenya Lionesses have been seeded second for the World seven series qualifiers where they will face Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, and Uganda. The Lionesses hope of qualifications ended at the semifinal stage last year where they lost to South Africa 12-7. Kenya had beaten the African rivals 24-12 in the pool stages.
