Kiaro, Gitau qualify for Word International Pairs in Spain

The pair garnered 52 points (26 points 1st nine , 26 points 2nd nine) to claim the coveted prize.

Kiambu's Stephen Kiaro and Vet Lab's David Gitau qualified for the Word International Pairs in Spain after winning the 2022 qualifier at Vet Lab Sports Club over the weekend.

 The pair garnered 52 points —26 points in the first nine and a similar margin in the second to claim the coveted prize.

Kenya will join 38 other countries participating in the World Final, which will be played at La Cala Golf Resort in Spain from November 14-18.

Since the event will be played in Ryder Cup format, the organizers have invited past Ryder Cup winners including Manuel Pinero, Costantino Rocca and Ronan Ratterly.

The 2021 Grand Finale was not played due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the qualifiers of last year will join this year’s winners. 

The six winners from last year are Jay Varia, Gurtej Phull, Kush Aashit, Chand Shah (Sigona;  Julius Rono and Erick Mutai (Kericho).

The event was introduced to Kenya in 2019 when the country finished 4th in the Grand Finale in Portugal.

The International Pairs is the world’s largest golf tournament. Local, regional and national tournaments are organized and promoted by licensed partners around the globe.

The top national teams represent their country or territory at the World Final for a chance to be crowned world champions.
