Parit Sanghrajka and Kiran Shah Pair will lead a team of Eldoret golfers to the final qualifiers of International Pairs Championships at Karen Golf Club.
The pair clinched the Eldoret International Pair Qualifiers to consolidate berths for the Karen event scheduled for August 28. The top three finishers will secure tickets for the International Pairs Championships in Portugal.
The pair will be hoping to fit in the shoes of veteran golfing pairs of Mike Karanga/Steve Kiaro, Anthony Murage/James Kamenchu and Romy Sandhu/Bhamra Bilu who flew the country's flag at the 2019 Portugal Windhoek International Pairs.
The pair carded 47 points in the four-ball tournament, where the top-five pairs qualified to represent the region at the Karen event in a fortnight.
Lukas Talel and Wesley Kiprono carded 46 points, beating the pair of Amos Butit and Alex Tolgos on count back for second and third positions. Felix Tarus and D. Bett paired well to emerge fourth while Mathew Koech and Kennedy Serem wrapped up the top five places.
The winners started with five in hole one to collectively collect three points, before adding similar points in the second hole. They then garnered three points in six, seven and eight and completed the outward nine with 23 points.
On resumption, they started with three points, dropped to two in the 11th, three in 12th and 23th, two in 14th, 4 in 15th, two in both 16th and 17th and ended the tournament with three for a total of 24 points.
Teams participating at the two-day International Pairs tourney could consist of two men, two ladies or a mixed pair.
The annual tournament is majorly played by the handicap-registered golfers worldwide and Sanghrajka and Shah have hopes of representing their home club at the international level.
