Vihiga Queens coach Boniface Nyamunyamu believes a two-week residential training camp will be ideal for his players ahead of the Confederation of Africa Football Women's Champions League qualifiers slated for July in Uganda.
This he said, will help the players maintain focus and produce better results when the competition finally serves off.
The Vihiga County-sponsored side will represent Kenya in the third edition of the qualifiers.
Vihiga, five-time Kenya Women's Premier League champions, won the inaugural edition of the Cecafa qualifiers that were held in 2021, Nairobi.
This is after overcoming a spirited fight from the National Bank of Ethiopia 2-1 in the finals held at the Moi International Stadium, Kasarani.
The team played in the tournament proper in Egypt where they managed one win in the group stages before elimination.
Kenya had no representative last year owing to the Fifa suspension of Kenya as Tanzania's Simba Queens represented the region.
Nyamunyamu said thorough preparations are needed if the team needs to reach the same dizzying heights.
"All we need is a secure place to train so that the players remain levelheaded. This can only be achieved in a residential training camp," Nyamunyamu observed.
"Being away from our families will be one way to avoid distractions. We need proper funding to run our activities smoothly," he added.
He went on: "We are waiting for the dates of the qualifiers to be confirmed first so that we avoid what transpired in 2021. We hit camp, broke and returned again because of poor communication".
