Nairobi City Stars' midfielder James Mazembe has promised to get back to his best after being given a chance by the Kenya Premier League side.

Mazembe, a mid-season signing on loan from premiership side KCB, has seamlessly plugged into the City Stars setup since his arrival in March 2023.

“So far, so good at Nairobi City Stars where I have the perfect chance to get back to my best. The technical bench and the rest of the team have fully supported me and I can only see myself rising,”

He added: “With all the support and enabling environment, expect to see more assists and goals from me before the season ends,” Mazembe told his fans.

Mazembe made an immediate impact on his Simba wa Nairobi debut against Mathare United in late March 2023, where he provided an assist for Newton Ochieng to score his maiden top-flight goal.

He has featured in nine games and clocked 260 minutes so far, with two starts and seven appearances off the bench.

He has a total of three assists against Mathare, his former side Kariobangi Sharks, and Ulinzi Stars.

Nairobi City Stars will be in action on Tuesday against a resurgent AFC Leopards at Nyayo National Stadium.

Meanwhile, former footballer Francis Ochola is among the 27 coaches who have successfully completed an intensive month-long CAF C coaching course in Kakamega.

During his heydays, Ochola played for Gor Mahia, Western Stima, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Muhoroni.

He retired from professional football in 2019 and made a seamless transition into coaching, acquiring his CAF D coaching license in 2022.

Ochola was not the only former player in the class to pursue coaching.

Others were John Waw, Laban Gambareko, and George Mutimba, all of whom are keen to make a positive impact in the world of football through their coaching careers.

Ochola expressed his dedication to nurturing and developing players, particularly at the grassroots level, with the ultimate aim of propelling them to the FKF Premier League and even international leagues.

“My main objective as a coach is to contribute to the growth and development of young talents and help them progress to the highest levels of competition. I want to provide them with the same opportunities that shaped my own career,” said Ochola.

With the successful completion of the CAF C course, he is equipped with enhanced skills and knowledge to guide and inspire the next generation of football stars.
