Ulinzi Starlets have prioritised defending the Football Kenya Federation Women's Cup trophy after giving up on the Kenya Women's Premier League title chase according to coach Joseph Mwanza.

The soldiers beat Kisped Queens 3-0 in the only quarterfinal match played on Sunday at Moi Stadium, Kisumu, as Neddy Atieno bagged a brace with Sophie Adhiambo also on the score sheet.

Ulinzi, who won the inaugural competition in 2021, are currently third in the WPL standings with 38 points-eight a drift of joint leaders Gaspo Women and Vihiga Queens both on 46 points.

Three matches remain to the end of the season and their only hope for a maiden league title is for the top two to lose all their remaining matches.

The Super Cup champions have a date with Kisumu All-Starlets in the last four of the competition.

“Our target is to defend the title we won in 2021. The league is out of reach for us but we will try to end the season on a high note,” Mwanza said.

“We are one step closer to the cup title but we have to beat Kisumu in order to reach the finals," Mwanza added.

Kisumu mastered a 2-0 victory against Royal Starlets on Saturday to set date with Ulinzi. A
