Ulinzi Starlets' coach Joseph Mwanza has said they are done with transfer activity after the acquisition of Joy Kinglady Oriyo from Zetech Sparks.

The attacking sensation was signed last week after successful trials and the wing-wizard has already linked up with the rest of the squad.

Ulinzi hope to mount a serious title challenge this season after finishing  17 points behind champions Vihiga Queens despite managing the second position.

Signing another attacker was obligatory for the Super Cup and FKF Women's Cup winners after Siliya Rasoa got injured at the tail end of last season.

Though the enterprising forward has begun rehabilitation, Mwanza doesn't expect her back into action at least until late October. Another striker, Linda Auma went for career progression which meant Ulinzi were light in attack.

"We had no intention of signing players as I had earlier stated but the circumstance forced us to. Rasoa tore her ligaments against Kisumu last season and the recovery process has taken long," Mwanza said.

He added: "We would have struggled without finding a replacement. Auma's unavailability was also a factor. Oriyo is a quality player who despite turning 20 next month, has the tools needed to become a household name. "

Sparks' coach Benard Kitolo was left furious after their prized asset signed for a direct rival. Mwanza said that was expected considering no coach wants to lose their most important players.

"It is normal to be in his situation but I had informed him a week earlier that one of his players accepted to attend our trials."

In the meantime, Mwanza wants the new Sports Cabinet Secretary Hon. Ababu Namwamba to quickly resolve the impasse between the government and the world football governing body, Fifa.

Kenya is currently suspended from all footballing activities by Fifa due to government interference.

"The first thing should be to end the long standoff with Fifa because the saga has dragged on for too long."
