Bunyore Starlets coach Zacharia Amakhanga has said their 3-0 win over Wadadia at Mumboha grounds is a big boost to the team ahead of their match against Thika Queens next weekend.

Prisca Ambale opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Brackcides Itambe and Dorcus Anyango added further goals to seal victory in the action-packed match.

Wadadia first choice goalkeeper together with the coach were red-carded. Second choice keeper sustained a serious head injury and was rushed to the hospital.

Bunyore's pair of Shalyne Onjote and Juliana Kasindi also sought medical attention after concussion.

"We needed this win badly and we are happy with the results. The girls fought from the start and showed desire and determination to win," Amakhanga said.

"Wadadia underrated us so the players had a point to prove that they are not underdogs or pushovers. We have a tough match against Thika Queens coming up so we need to be physically and mentally ready for Saturday."

This was sweet revenge for Bunyore who were drubbed 6-0 in the first leg at Mumias Sports Complex. The win will likely guarantee the newbies safety in the top tier league. Wadadia who have 10 points will drop to the relegation zone should both Kisumu All Starlets and Kayole win on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Harambee Starlets striker Marjolene Nekesa was once again on the scoresheet as Minskran beat Gomel 7-0 in the Belarus Women Premier League match staged on Friday.

The goal was Nekesa's sixth in her fourth appearance for the club.
