Cliff Nyakeya has signed for Wazito FC, snubbing Gor Mahia in the process.
The winger was a prime target for the record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia but attempts to lure him did not materialise.
The Kenyan international played for Mathare United between 2016 and 2019 before joining Egyptian side FC Mars in 2019 whom he played for until June 2021.
“I am delighted to join Wazito FC because they are a team with great plans and I believe that they match my ambitions,” Nyakeya said.
“I have played in the Kenyan league before and I know that it will not be a challenge settling in again. I also reunite with some of my former teammates but most importantly I get a chance to work with coach (Francis) Kimanzi, who I can say made me the player I am today,” he added.
Nyakeya, who is expected to beef up Wazito's attack ahead of the new season joins for an undisclosed period of time.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of Cliff Nyakeya from the Egyptian side, FC Mars for an undisclosed period of time,” read a statement from the club.
The winger has been handed jersey number 11.
The big spenders have also confirmed the signing of Swaleh Hamisi from National Super League side Coast Stima on a long-term deal.
