In a bid to avoid the axe to the National Super League, relegation-threatened Posta Rangers coach John Kamau wants his playing unit to step up their concentration levels in their next league matches.

Rangers suffered their tenth defeat of the season to KCB over the weekend to plummet to 17th on the table with 16 points. However, Kamau observed that lapses in concentration had proved costly thus far in the season but remained confident that the boys will evade the drop should they remain keen on the pitch.

Rangers had managed to contain the bankers for the better part of the contest but conceded in the 63rd minute when Bethwel Warambo found the back of the net, a goal which would later turn out to be the difference between the two teams. Kamau blamed the defeat and the recent string of unwanted results to lack of full-time concentration and asked his charges to stick to their game plan till the final whistle.

“We have been playing well but at some point, we lose concentration and concede cheap goals. Against KCB, we were superb in all departments but we were punished for failing to concentrate on marking in the set piece which they got the goal from and we ended up losing the match. I ask my players to improve on that area and we will be able to move from the relegation zone and earn a respectable finish.”

The former KCB coach did not shy away from disclosing his intention of bringing new players to beef up his squad for the remaining bit of the season.

The club has been rumoured to be closing down on FC Talanta midfielder Sebastian Osodo’s signature but Kamau said the new faces will be unveiled once the deals are completed. Rangers had earlier on parting ways with Brian Juma who signed for Talanta.

“We have to bring in new players to strengthen a few areas I feel have been a let down for the matches I have been in charge. Negotiations are underway between the players and the relevant authorities and I hope we will unveil them once the deals are agreed and completed.”

Rangers are lined to take on 2008 league champions Mathare United tomorrow at Moi Stadium, Kasarani.
