National Super League outfit Wazito have lodged an official complain to the Football Kenya Federation for allegedly being on the receiving end of poor officiating in their last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Migori Youth at Camp Toyoyo.

Wazito, who are gunning for the two automatic promotion slots claim to have been denied two clear goals and a strong penalty shout and have written to the federation to have the officials who manned their match, served with stern disciplinary actions.

Prior to the match, Wazito were deemed as favourites for the match, thanks to their star-studded playing unit and motivation within the unit.

But Clinton Okoth’s lone goal condemned Wazito to their fifth loss of the season to remain a point behind league leaders Ushuru.

Their coach Fred Ambani said the club sought to have action taken against the officials rather than having the match forfeited and urged the federation to crack the whip on biased whistleblowers.

The result, which saw Ambani savour his first defeat since taking over from Mohammed Mchulla, irked him as he believes his side would have easily recovered and put the result beyond Migori’s reach had the officials remained neutral in dispensing justice.

It is embarrassing for such incidents to happen in the modern football as it deprives deserving teams victory.
Wazito Coach, Fred Ambani

“We were denied two clear goals and a penalty which would have seen the match end in our favour," he said.

"It’s discouraging for a coach to prepare a team for a win throughout the week only for referees to deny the team a win by making wrong calls. We have written to the federation to voice our conversation and we hope action will be taken against the officials who oversaw our match.”

Despite the loss, Ambani said he picked lessons from the match and vowed to address the defensive lapses which have seen the club fail to keep a clean sheet since assuming the head coach roles.

“We learnt a few lessons from the match and we will correct the mistakes we made in the match especially in the first half. We have to work on the few errors in our defence line before the next match and most importantly recover and go for a win.”
