Former Kenyan international goalkeeper Arnold Origi says he is ready for the new challenge at top Finland side,  Helsingfors IFK.

Origi's journey in the Scandinavian continues after his free transfer move from  Norway’s second division side, Kongsvinger IL.

“Kongsvinger IL is a big side that commands a lot of respect in Finland and joining them is a big step towards the twilight of my career,” added the 35-year-old shot-stopper.

Origi, who formerly played for Mathare United and Tusker in the Kenya Premier League,  joins his former coach at Norwegian side Moss FK Tor Thodesen.

Thodesen is confident Origi’s experience in the Norwegian league makes him an asset since he will adapt well at the side and continue doing well between the sticks.

“Origi will have no problems with acclimatisation in the Scandinavian country, having played in Norway for eight years with different sides. We know he will also help improve young upcoming keepers," said Tor who did not disclose the duration of the contract.

Origi officially acquired Norwegian citizenship in 2017, losing his Kenyan passport as Norway doesn't allow dual citizenship.

Former Kenya was capped  33 times for Harambee Stars and last featured in the 0-1 loss to minnows Guinea Bissau in the Afcon qualifier at Nyayo Stadium in March 28th.

Origi was partly blamed for the controversial goal that is believed to have led to a heated argument with head coach Stanley Okumbi before he called it quits after 12 years.

He was the man of the match in his last match for  Lillestrom SC  as they won the   Norwegian FA cup in 2018.

Origi who had trials in 2017  with Crystal Palace is a cousin to Liverpool striker Divock  Origi, and son to former Gor Mahia and Harambee stars captain Austin Oduor.
