Despite seeing his side squander an opportunity to arrest a damaging four-match winless streak following a 1-1 draw against his former side Ulinzi Stars yesterday.

Tusker coach Robert Matano has remained guarded on the club’s transfer plans if any before the end of the mid-season window.

The brewers had taken the lead seven minutes before half-time through Sydney Ochieng but the soldiers’ in-form striker Enos Ochieng levelled matters from the spot in the 54th minute as the former champions shared the spoils in Ruaraka.

“The result is obviously disappointing. I thought we were the better team and had we taken our chances, Ulinzi would not have come back into the game. I have confidence that the players we have can do a good job for us and help us achieve our objectives for the season,” he said.

The stalemate left Ulinzi still in 10th with 22 points while Tusker fell to seventh with 26 points. Edging ahead of them into sixth are Sony Sugar who beat Bandari 2-0 to deny them the opportunity of going to the top of the Kenyan Premier League table.

Second half goals from Yusuf Juma and Derrick Otanga dented the dockers championship hopes, leaving them on 32 points—one adrift of top spot. Sony have 28 points.

Zoo Kericho got a vital point from their trip to Sudi Stadium as they held Nzoia United to a 1-1 draw.

The point saw them level on 16 points with the two teams directly above them AFC Leopards and Vihiga United.

Meanwhile, the Ulinzi Stars versus Gor Mahia Round 16 SportPesa Premier League match that was set to be played on Saturday has been postponed.

Gor Mahia requested for the postponement citing the fact that they have five players away on national team duties this weekend. They are Philemon Otieno, Joash Onyango, Francis Kahata, Francis Mustafa and Jacques Tuyisenge.

According to the league managers, a new date for the match will be communicated next week.
