The not so 'special one' is up to his old tricks again, ignore him

So Arsenal won the Emirates Cup. I expected them to and it was a great feeling. But don’t for one second think as Gunners we are losing focus on the tournaments or games that matter most.

Winning our pre seasons gave me confidence in the players that manager Arsene Wenger have at his disposal in the coming season.

I would still love to see the Gunners secure a top flight striker but the way the team is looking right now, we can achieve very good results next season.

Already former Arsenal great Ian Wright has tipped Arsenal to win the league and he should know. He’s probably seeing something that he saw during his playing days that made the Gunners win games.

The important test for me will be the Community Shield against Chelsea tomorrow.

I acknowledge that Arsenal haven’t had the strongest of opposition during the pre season so tomorrow will be critical.

Already the build up is proving interesting with Jose Mourinho starting his mind games and Wenger refusing to take the bait saying “Arsenal do not listen to other people.”

Mourinho was being a brat detailing who Arsenal had bought in the last couple of years even going as far as saying the The Gunners had a great squad capable of winning the league last season.

Mourinho doesn’t believe any other team but his will win the league so he was just playing mind games. Sometimes I think Mourinho has mental issues though. This week he criticised managers for quote: “trying to buy the league.”

Sort of like the pot calling the kettle black. Mourinho invented the buying of league titles and now he’s accusing others of doing the same. If they are and they can afford to; let them! I think the Portuguese tactician isn’t too happy that Roman Abramovich no longer has a pot of gold for him to buy players; but he has added the crucial cover he needs so I don’t know what his problem is.

I think like Wenger, all managers should just let him blaa blaa blaa without response. One thing I know for sure is that Arsenal will give Chelsea a run for their money tomorrow and will give all teams a run for their money in the league and other major tournaments next season.

Even though we didn’t have really serious opposition during the off season, I’m pleased with what Wenger did achieve.

Now he just needs to continue to use the players who shone in the league. And he needs to play Theo Walcott regularly and in the best position for him to get goals.

I’m feeling a real calm right now and if the players are feeling like I am, then tomorrow will actually be a piece of cake; and a warning to other title contenders, not to dismiss us next season like they usually do.
