Kenyan boxer Sarah Achieng’ has vowed to demolish Ruth Chisale of Malawi in their super lightweight Commonwealth title fight set for Charter Hall Nairobi on October 2.

Achieng’ (7 KOs)-2-0) will headline the 22Bet-sponsored title contest which will be curtain-raised by seven support bouts featuring East African boxers.

The Box Girl pugilist will be returning to the ring after a three-year hiatus since stopping Joice Awino (7-7- 1) in Nairobi on March 23, 2019.

“I’m ready to take on my opponent despite being inactive. There is usually more pressure fighting at home. However, home advantage is always a plus. I’m a very polite boxer but in the ring, I have a different personality. I have been training well and, hopefully, the fight will be great,” said Achieng’.

"Covid-19 has been a real challenge since my last fight in 2019. We have had good training sessions nevertheless. I thank 22Bet for the opportunity and platform to further my career in boxing.”

Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) chairman Reuben Ndolo said: “We are very optimistic that Sarah will mount a successful onslaught and I call upon Kenyans to rally behind her. KPBC applauds 22BET Kenya  for choosing to be our partners in pro-boxing and we assure all stakeholders of our cooperation at all times.”

Achieng has been training under Alfred Analo aka ‘Ire Priest’ at the Box Girl stable.

“At Box Girl, we are a tool to empower girls and women in general. We have had challenges during lockdown but just worked towards this fight,” coach Analo said.

KPBC secretary Franklin Imbenzi aka ‘Kuka’ thanked 22Bet for supporting pro boxing since 2019.

Harry Bor, the Marketing Manager at 22Bet said they are happy to partner with KPBC in empowering the youth.

“As 22Bet, our partnership with KPBC aims to grow sports across board. We have had an engagement with Rayton Okwiri and we are proud to partner with the boxing body for two more matches in February. We are looking forward to this fight as our main agenda is grassroots sports.”
