Ulinzi Warriors hit KU to shoot to the top of league table

The win pushed the soldiers to the top of the table with 24 points—three above second-placed Kenya Ports Authority.

Ulinzi Warriors blanked Kenyatta University Pirates 67-51 in a Kenya National Basketball League clash at the Langata Sports Complex.

The win pushed the soldiers to the top of the table with 24 points—three above second-placed Kenya Ports Authority. Ulinzi trailed 14-10 in the first quarter but were top in the next three with 18-10, 23-17 and 16-10 margin.

David Kitongo scored 20 points and Churchill Odhiambo added 13 for the Warriors. Simon Wambua hit 24 as Trevor Opiyo scored 11. In the ladies' matches at the same venue, Zetech University Sparks also drubbed Africa Nazarene University (ANU) 69-44.

In another match, Storms took a strong 21-13 difference at halftime and went on to register a 53-46 victory over Eagle Wings.

At the Uasin Gishu courts in Eldoret, Platinum Eldonets led 44-32 at halftime and went on to beat University "Terrorists" 73-61.

It was the campus lads' second loss of the tour, having gone down 78-66 to Lakeside in Kisumu the previous day. The home girls Eldonets lost their second game when they were shot down 42-36 by UoN "Dynamites."

"Tough losses! Inexperience was our undoing. We chased both games and in the end, it was a difficult gap to overcome," said UoN coach Eugene Genga.

In Kisumu, Lakeside defeated Strathmore University Blades 58-53 while Lady Bucks succumbed 76-33 to Strathmore University Swords.

In the lower division, Snipers thumped Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) University  50-24, Neosasa nipped Moi Air Base (MAB) 50-45, and United International University 'Flames' torched Butere Girls 72-54 in the backyard.
