Busy weekend as basketball league play-offs begin

KBF competitions secretary Joseph Amoko said the final fixtures to crown the 2021 champions will be held on March 6 in Nairobi

The Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) 2021 Play-offs will throw off on January 22 with 12 games on the card.

In a fixture released yesterday by the KBF competitions secretary Joseph Amoko, there will be eight premier league matches and six lower-division ties.

Strathmore University Swords will host top-seed and favourites Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in the women's opener.

The University of Nairobi Dynamites meet Storms in the other women's showdown as Zetech University Sparks tackle Eagle Wings.

In the men's category, Thunder lock horns with Strathmore University Blades as Eldonets Platinum welcome home KPA.

Kisumu Lakeside who stunned top seed and reigning champions Ulinzi Warriors in the first leg, host them in the last fixture of the day.

The following day will have two top matches that will see women champions Equity Bank confront Africa Nazarene University (ANU).

The bankers' men's side then close the weekend with a show against Eugene Genga's revitalised University of Nairobi Terrorists.

Mombasa host two lower-division first-round matches. Coastal Queens face Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology as Baobab Blazers battle Neosasa. Kakamega-based Nebulus have a date with Shoot4 Life.

In other matches, Moi Air Base (MAB) will play Mustangs, Kisii University meet Eldonets, Raptors fight Jkuat with Footprints clashing  Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) University.
