Ulinzi leave this morning for Dar tourney

Coach William Balozi said the soldiers, who are in Nairobi following a week-long low attitude training in Mombasa, are all set for the four team tournament.

National champions Ulinzi Warriors jet out Monday for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania ahead of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Coach William Balozi said the soldiers, who are in Nairobi following a week-long low attitude training in Mombasa, are all set for the four team tournament.

He said the training went well and he has no injury concerns ahead of the six-day tournament that tips off today.

“The training in Mombasa went on well. We covered a lot and even had a friendly game. I am confident we will do well in Dar,” said Balozi.

“I am going with 16 players and will pick the final roster after arriving there and having some sessions.”

Ulinzi are in East Division and will battle ASCUT of Madagascar, Cobra Sport of South Sudan and Hawassa City  of Ethiopia.

The show that has now been pushed forward to Thursday at the Dar indoor arena will see top two teams in Group D progress to the next phase. The team will be captained by national team star Eric Mutoro, assisted by Tiberius Menya.
