It is the end of the road for Kenya Lionesses as they crushed to a 72-50 defeat at the hands of Mozambique in the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 Women Championship pre-quarters in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The winning team's from this phase will move to the quarters where they will find host Cameroon, Champions Nigeria, Senegal and Mali waiting. The losers go home.

Mozambique was always going to be a tough proposition for Kenya who trailed 24-12 in the opening quarter, were down 41-23 at the break and did not recover. In the third quarter the winners finished strong as they topped 57-33 to seal the win in the last stanza.

Melissa Otieno was the only Lionesses who posted double digit scores, registering 10 points. Victoria Reynolds shot 9 points and Natali Mwangale who was doubtful, shook off her injury to register another 8 points.

Red hot Ingrid Macauro led all scorers as she sunk game high 21 points for the winners while captain Odelia Mafanela added another 12.
