KBF men's playoffs face delays

The Western Division teams have a date in the Yaounde, Cameroon qualifier. Three top teams from each group will move to the tournament proper next March.

Men playoff finals could be delayed until early next year if champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) win this weekends semis finals.

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) competitions secretary Joseph Amoko yesterday said that there are fears it could spill to next year.

"It is tricky. I am looking at it keenly. But there are chances the men games might not end this year if KPA make the semis." Said Amoko 

KPA have a Basketball Africa League (BAL) date in Kigali, Rwanda from December 17-22. If they beat Strathmore University they will face Ulinzi Warriors in the semis.

"If KPA shut out Strathmore this weekend in the two games, they will proceed to meet Ulinzi in the semis and this will wait until their return.' he said

But the ladies final, he said, will not be affected by the Fiba Africa club championships slated for Cairo, Egypt mid next month.

" KPA women are also involved in Africa tournament but we will have ample time to complete this program before the year ends." he said.

The Cairo show that will involved 12 top clubs in the continent throws off December 6-15. KPA together with Dolphins from Uganda will represent Zone Five.KPA men qualified for BAL event from the Madagascar qualifiers.
