Darajani Gogo coach Pius Aringa has blamed their dwindling fortunes in the Football Kenya Federation National Super League on lack of experience.

“I’m not looking for excuses but inexperience has cost us points in away games. I’m working on changing the mindset of the players because once we concede, we crumble,” Aringa said.

However, speaking ahead of their rescheduled game against second-placed Murang’a Seal on Wednesday, Aringa remained confident of a successful outing.

“I have a young squad but I believe we can achieve our dream of qualifying for the Kenyan Premier League next season. Most of the players are playing in the second-tier league for the first time and that's why they always want to outplay opponents,” added the youthful tactician.

“Darajani Gogo is a project whose main aim is to develop players for the national team and European market.”

He added: “St Sebastian Park is a good field and although the hosts are more experienced, we are going there for a win. We are targeting nine points in the remaining three games.”

On Sunday, Darajani lost 3-1 to Migori Youth.

Aringa has already boosted the team by signing two central midfielders; Mainge Muthoka from Ligi Ndogo and Raidon Wanyonyi from rivals Kibera Black Stars.

“I also want to reinforce the striking department. I have not identified one but we are still scouting. Our policy does not allow us to sign a player aged 24 and above,” said the tactician.

Darajani Gogo are on the NSL table with 21 points from 13 games.

Murang’a Seal coach Vincent Nyaberi, said: “The game against Gogo is a must-win for us. We are going for maximum points. We cannot afford to drop points for the third game in a row.”

On Sunday, Seal's encounter against Shabana was abandoned in the 75th minute after Seal players vacated the 'unplayable' pitch following torrential rains. Shabana were leading 2-0.

“In the game against Shabana, the early red card affected my game plan but I’m confident my boys will bounce back to winning ways. Our target is to finish the first leg with 34 points,” added the former defender.

In another rescheduled match, Migori Youth host relegation-threatened Kajiado FC at Migori Stadium.
