Pre-race favourites Geoffrey Koech and Beatrice Cheserek stormed to victory at the Wizz Air Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday.
Koech, who is also the 2019 Birell Prague 10k winner, edged out Ethiopian duo of Gizealaw Ayana and Chimdessa Gudeta who placed second and third respectively.
Koech timed 1:00:01 as Ayana and Gudeta finished in respective times of 1:00:17 and 01:00:18.
The other Kenyan in the men’s field was Geoffrey Yegon who placed distant fifth (1:01:18).
In the women’s field, Cheserek unleashed a finishing kick to win the race in her personal best time of 1:06:48.
Viola Chepngeno and Ethiopian Zewditu Aderaw crossed the finish line second and third in times of 1:06:52 and 1:09:16 respectively.
Other Kenyans in the race were Cynthia Nolari and Susy Chemaimak who placed fourth and sixth in respective times of 1:10:17 and 1:12:51.
