National men’s champions Kenya Ports Authority are focused on maximum points in their two Kenya National Basketball League matches in Nairobi this weekend, says coach Sammy Kiki.
The dockers face Absa on Saturday and meet former champions Ulinzi Warriors a day later at the Nyayo Stadium gymnasium.
The two giants suffered heavy losses at the hands of a rejuvenated Nairobi City Thunder in three days. Thunder hit KPA 65-45 in their backyard before stopping the soldiers 66-42 in Mombasa and Nairobi respectively.
“The boys are ok... we have put the loss against Thunder behind us. It was a wake-up call,” said Kiki.
“We have worked on the mistakes we made and we’re now focused on our games this weekend. I am happy with the training and thank our management for their support.”
KPA, who are sixth in the 12-team log with 13 points, have lost one of their seven matches. Warriors, on the other hand, are second with 15 points with seven wins in 10 matches.
The other top match will be at the Uasin Gishu Primary School courts where home boys Platinum Eldoret, who are 11th, welcome ninth-placed Umoja on Saturday. The hosts have won two of their seven matches compared to the city side’s three.
There will also be five Lower Division matches in Nairobi and Mombasa before the league takes a Christmas and New Year break. Action resumes on January 27.
