Misoki: I want to play professional volleyball abroad

Misoki has earned her first call-up to the national women's team after catching the eyes of both local and foreign coaches.

Fast-rising Kenya Prisons libero Delphine Misoki hopes to impress in Malkia Strikers' colours in order to earn a professional stint in the future.

Misoki has earned her first call-up to the national women's team after catching the eyes of both local and foreign coaches in the national women's league.

Misoki 19, is part of the 20-member squad expected to start residential training camp this week at the Moi International Stadium, Kasarani Indoor Arena.

The national team is preparing for the Challenger Cup in France as well as the Africa Nations Championships that will act as the Olympic qualifiers.

"It feels good to be named in the national team for the first time. It has been about hard work and determination. It has been a learning process for me especially coming from high school," the soft-spoken player said.

"I want to be part of this long-term project. I want to play professional volleyball as soon as possible because that is the dream of every Kenyan player. The exposure will be vital for me," Misoki added.

Lorine Chebet and Yvonne Wavinya are the other Prisons players in the team.

Kenya Pipeline's Agrippina Kundu has been Malkia's go-to libero for the last few years but Misoki remain's unperturbed.

"I want to learn from Kundu. She's an experienced player and I look forward to working with her".
