Racing drivers lead in environment conservation ahead of WRC Safari Rally

Racing drivers Nikhil Sachania, Evans Kavisi and Karan Patel have taken a leading role to conserve the environment ahead of the WRC Safari Rally set for Naivasha from June 22-25.

The trio, sponsored by KCB, were involved in a tree-planting exercise at Naivasha Boys primary school.

They were also joined by their navigators Absalom Aswani, Deep Patel and Tauseef Khan in the exercise that saw 500 trees planted. The program aligns with the government's ambition of planting 15 billion trees by 2032.

“Our environment is facing alarming levels of degradation through deforestation, pollution and climate change. Each of us must take responsibility and decisive action to address these challenges," Judith Sidi, KCB head of corporate  and regulatory affairs said.

She added: "We understand the pollution effects the rally brings about. We must step up and double our efforts to mitigate this before, during and after the Safari.”

The entry list for the legendary gravel event, billed as the toughest fixture on theWRC calendar, features 10 top-level Rally1 cars, 11 WRC2 runners plus a five strong WRC3 line-up.
