Western Jaguars will miss the services of four first-team players in their weekend matches against Sikh Union and Greensharks as the Kenya Hockey Union men's League takes shape.

Moses Muigai who has had a troubled ankle injury is expected to be sidelined for at least until the end of June according to Jaguars' coach Mike Malungu.

Borris Katasi also misses out because of the same problem.

Calistus Muyale is suspended for the encounters while striker Edison Ndombi, who suffered a shoulder injury during the 3-0 win over Strathmore Gladiators last weekend, will be monitored ahead of the crucial fixtures.

"It is a pity that we will make do without four players for the grueling weekend matches. It means the team will have to adjust tactically to suit the available players," Malungu said.

"We want to take one match at a time, play with an identity in order to get the desired results," he added.

The Kakamega-based side has started the 2023 season strongly. Jaguars have registered four wins from five matches and are yet to lose a match so far.

The 3-0 win over Gladiators on May 28 came sharply a day after the team had dismantled Wazalendo 4-1 at their Eregi Teachers Training College backyard.

Jaguars have also mastered a pair of clean sheets against varsity sides Kenya College of Accountancy University KCA-U and the United States International University USIU-A Mashujaa by a 2-0 identical scoreline.

The 2-2 draw against defending champions Butali Warriors in the season opener, remains the only fixture the high-pressing team have dropped points.
