"The girls are in good shape they have trained well and are relishing the challenge of competing against their peers from the rest of the continent,” said Oduor.

The Kenyan trio played at the Africa Under-14 Championship in Lome, Togo in March where they posted mixed results but Oduor said he is upbeat about their chances in the tournament in North Africa.

The girls learnt their lessons in March and have polished up on their areas of weaknesses. We look forward to the event and to do the country proud,” said Oduor, whose team finished fourth last year.

"Our target is to finish in the medal bracket. Last year we narrowly missed out but we hope to come back stronger and fitter to grab a medal this time around."
