Kenya Triathlon Federation and Kenya Baseball Federation have joined National Olympic Committee of Kenya after their affiliation requests and documentation were approved.

NOCK held a General Assembly Meeting on Monday, attended by 26 federations.

The confirmation of two federations takes the total number of affiliates  to 28.

NOCK president Paul Tergat lauded the executive board  for its continued building on the transformation gains established over the years.

“Indeed, the Executive Board's strategic direction at the beginning of the year was to sustain these gains, expand our program offerings, enhance and deepen strategic partnerships and promote our athletes’ welfare support, among other goals,” Tergat said.

“We laud and support the government’s leadership role to curb and stop the doping and urge all of us to make anti-doping a central message in all our communications until we win the war conclusively.”

In the agenda was the  presentation and adoption of the 2023 annual budget and the minutes of the Electoral General Assembly on December 9, 2021.

The audited accounts for the year ending December 31, 2021 and the 2023 Games Program was also considered.

Twelve executive members showed up alongside chairman of the Kenya National Sports Council Nderitu Gikaria as well as Sports Registrar Rose Wasike.

And following a UN Climate Change invite to sports organisations and their stakeholders to join a new climate action for sports movement, the General Assembly adopted the initiative unanimously.

This aims to achieve a clear trajectory for the sports community through measuring, reducing and reporting greenhouse gas emissions.

This is  established in line with the well below 2-degree scenario enshrined in the Paris Agreement.
